Welcome Back Chairs Breakfast

Please join us for our annual Welcome Back Breakfast for Chairs. We hope to see all Chairs for the breakfast and a leadership discussion with the Provost. Following breakfast, we will have a day of leadership development workshops. All are invited, but new and recently new (within the past few years) Chairs are strongly encouraged to attend the full day.

Laying the Groundwork for a Successful Spring Garden

This workshop is part of an ongoing series for our Wellness Sensory Garden: Cultivating Community, Health, and Harmony.
For this first workshop, participants will learn about the space and how to care for a winter garden bed. Participants will work together to prepare the garden for the winter by cleaning the beds and planting cover crops.

Difficult Conversations Drop-In Clinic

Feeling anxious about addressing tension with a colleague or discussing conflict with a supervisor or report? Would it be helpful to role play, write a script, or practice what you're planning to say? Workshop your challenge, listen and learn as others' practice, or request a private session to sharpen your edges. Experiment with different talking points and strategies for effective and respectful communication, and get real-time feedback from a conflict navigation specialist. Practice makes comfortable — don't be shy! First come, first served. First Thursday of the month, 12:30-1:30pm. One-time registration required to access the virtual meeting space.

Adding Questions to Midcourse Surveys in Blue

This short session will bring instructors through the process of how to add questions to their midcourse survey in Blue. We will also cover best practices for question design, tips for promoting engagement, and closing the loop. Ample time will be provided for Q&A. This session will not be recorded.

NTT Promotion Workshop

This workshop is intended for Rutgers–New Brunswick Teaching, Professional Practice, Research, and Clinical Faculty members who are interested in learning more about the promotion process for NTT faculty members and is especially for NTT faculty who anticipate being reviewed for promotion in AY 2025-26.  Please join us for an overview of the promotion process, to learn answers to common questions, and hear tips for preparing your promotion package (Personal Narrative, Teaching Statement, CV, Form 1a/b/c). Hopefully, attendees will understand what can be do now to prepare for promotion later and where to find additional promotion resources.

Assessment of Learning 101

This workshop explores the fundamentals of academic assessment, including program learning outcomes, course learning goals, and both direct and indirect assessment techniques. We will examine the crucial role of rubrics within the assessment process and discuss how assessment strategies can effectively inform course design. The workshop will also address best practices for enhancing assessment quality, including the implementation of blind grading procedures, ensuring grading reliability through inter-rater checks, and utilizing multiple reviewers for comprehensive evaluations. This workshop is designed for faculty who are new to academic assessment or need a refresher on learning about different methods of assessment and the assessment cycle.
