EmPaCT: Difficult Conversations Drop-In Clinic

Feeling anxious about addressing tension with a colleague or discussing conflict with a supervisor or report? Would it be helpful to role play, write a script, or practice what you're planning to say? Workshop your challenge, listen and learn as others' practice, or request a private session to sharpen your edges. Experiment with different talking points and strategies for effective and respectful communication, and get real-time feedback from a conflict navigation specialist. Practice makes comfortable — don't be shy! First come, first served. First Thursday of the month, 12:30-1:30pm. One-time registration required to access the virtual meeting space.

OTEAR: Using the Rutgers Guidelines for Presenting Evidence of Effective Teaching (Virtual Interactive Workshop)

This workshop will explore the Guidelines for Effective Teaching, which adopts a framework showing what effective teaching looks like and encourages faculty to present evidence that shows their strengths across all aspects of teaching. As part of this session, participants evaluate samples of evidence and brainstorm what sources of evidence they can muster to build their promotion packets. Craft a standout teaching portfolio to effectively communicate your teaching responsibilities, philosophy, goals, and achievements. This interactive workshop will teach you how to present an engaging teaching philosophy and compile compelling evidence of your teaching success. OTEAR: Peer Review of the Teaching Portfolio (In-Person Hands-on Workshop)

Does your teaching portfolio present strong evidence showcasing your teaching success? Is the teaching philosophy clear and well-matched with your instructional goals? In this workshop we provide a rubric for evaluating teaching portfolios and assign participants to small teams to peer review their portfolios and document effective strategies and presentation of evidence. We will share results so that all participants can see the best strategies and learn from each other. This workshop will be held in person in New Brunswick, and is meant for those who can bring a draft portfolio to share with others.

FDC: Avoiding Faculty Burnout: Discussion & Accountability Session with Dr. Corinne Castro

Attend the discussion and accountability session for "Avoiding Faculty Burnout" on Friday, January 30th, led by the senior director for faculty development and diversity, Dr. Corinne Castro.

Prior in the December 12th workshop, faculty will develop strategies for prioritizing and building momentum for their research and writing on the day-to-day level while maintaining work-life balance along the way.
